E-Z Skylight Shade is a fixed solar shade panel that fits inside the skylight opening using spring tension rods at each end to secure it. Custom manufactured to your exact specifications, these shades can be made using transparent woven or light blocking fabrics. Kirsh Spring Tension Rods are hidden in permanently welded pockets at the top and bottom and lock the panel into position. A third filler flap pocket closes up any extra gaps. Larger units may require an intermediate pocket for additional support.
NOTE: The surfaces that the tension rods will be pushing against must be parallel to each other for the rods to stay up. No drilling, brackets or special installation tools are required to install this simple, low cost solution to control heat , glare and fading. The panels do not retract.
The solar shade materials are woven from heavy duty, color fast, non shrinking yarns. They are available in 3%, 5% or 10% openness factors depending upon the light reducing requirements. We recommend 10% openness to retain the open feeling of a skylight. Colors closest to white rejects heat the best. Light blocking materials from our Stop Light collection are also a popular option.
An alternate use of the E-Z Skylight System is in both vertical and transom windows as rods can be vertical or horizontal
