Installing Double Pulley Skylight Shades
Do not remove wrapper until shade is in the brackets.
Install pulleys and lock; run cord through lock and secure. Then remove wrapper. To remove shade from the brackets (after the load is set) hold the spring end with the wrench and slide out. Because the spring is loaded, it locks into the bracket. When the wrench is removed the shade driver will spin releasing tension. The driver slot must be VERTICAL; never sideways or the single notch will not release.
1. Install safety brackets (with the driver slot vertical) on a firm surface
2. Set spring tension - Hold shade level and place tension on the spring by winding 10 -15 turns in a clockwise direction. (Use the included winder) The angle cut on the spring driver must face DOWN when you are finished winding the spring. Hold the winder and rotate the shade slightly until you feel the internal stop catch.
3. Run the cord through the lock pulley or fixed pulley and then through screw eyes, etc.
4. Remove shade wrapper by opening tape. Never use a sharp tool.
5. Operate shade slowly to be sure it is rolling correctly.
6. If shade rolls back to one side it is not level. The material will roll to the high side telescoping past edge of the roller. This can damage the shade material if it binds on the brackets.
How to correct the roll: Pull the shade to expose roller and place masking tape on the opposite side of the incorrect roll. Bond a 3 inch length of 1/2-inch wide masking tape on the vertical side of the shade material. Operate slowly! If not correct, stop and place additional tape on top of the first layer. Sometimes tape on the roller will help too. If this does not correct the roll; reposition the pulley on the opposite side. Otherwise, move the bracket.
