DOUBLE PULLEY SKYLIGHT INSTRUCTIONS

Your shade comes already installed in spring tension safety brackets with the tension already set. Do not remove the shade from the brackets or you will have to rewind the spring.

1. Make sure you have a firm mounting surface for the EZ Mount Plate. (This is the angled aluminum piece with the shade brackets and shade attached.) This surface must be at right angles to the skylight glass if your skylight is slanted like your pitched roof. If your skylight is horizontal (parallel to the floor) the mounting surface must be at right angles to the flat ceiling.

2. Drill holes through the EZ Mount Plate for mounting the EZ Mount plate to the skylight header THROUGH THE 3" SIDE OF THE EZ MOUNT PLATE. If your skylight is slanted like your pitched roof, the brackets are mounted on the 3" side of the EZ Mount plate. If your skylight is a horizontal one (parallel to the floor) the brackets are mounted on the 4" side of the EZ Mount plate.

3. DO NOT DAMAGE THE SHADE. If you can't get the drill bit by the shade roller, you can pull the shade downwards (have someone help by holding it for you) so the roll is thinner and you can drill by it. There may also be space for the screws on either side of the safety brackets that hold the shade.

4. Place the EZ Mount Plate on the skylight header and mark where you will need to drill holes in the header. Drill the holes.

5. Screw the EZ mount Plate to the skylight header.

6. Mount the screw eye at the bottom of the skylight on either side.

7. Mount the Pulley Lock (also called Worm Lock—it"s the metal device with the white plastic knobby piece in the middle) to the bottom of the skylight on the other side.

8. Tie the cord to the screw eye and run it up to through the first pulley (feed it from the outside edge of the shade towards the center of the skylight), then across the bottom of the shade, through the second pulley, and then down through the Pulley Lock.

9. Check to make sure the shade is operating correctly.
   
   * If your unit came with side light shield, mount them on the right and left sides of the opening, butted up with the EZ Mount Plate. They should be flush with the bottom of the skylight opening. For side light shields to install correctly the side walls of the skylight well must be at right angles to the skylight header and sill. You will need to drill a “mouse hole” at the bottom of one side light shield for the cord to go through on the Pulley Lock side. Hold the light shield up in position to judge where to drill the hole for the cord. It should be a large hole (approx 1/4" diameter) that actually goes off the edge of the light shield so the cord can drop freely and not rub on the metal edge.)
