These dark smoke shades are for intense glare, UV and heat control. Shades are constructed of five gauge multi-ply mylar and will not pit. Industrial Strength Shade material is stronger than steel and virtually tear proof seams (if required for larger shades) are both adhesive bonded and sonic welded eliminating problems under high load usage. Industrial Strength shades are made of a scratch resistant material. Looking through the shade, colors remain TRUE insuring that Visual Light Signals are easily recognized. Red, Yellow and Green Signal Markers are never distorted, even at a great distance. Industrial Strength Shades provide daytime privacy only.
Control towers often require double shades, one set of 247OB and one set of F-72.
F-72 for Southern and Southwestern Geographies where the sun is brighter and hotter; there is also a transparent metallic coating between the layers for added heat reduction.
2470B for Northern Geographies where the sun is less intense. This is more for glare than heat reduction.
Shades are often used in applications where dust, drafts and open windows are the norm. The special coating means less abrasion from air born dust insuring longer service life. Shades are mounted on heavy-duty steel rollers with dust covers protecting the drive mechanism from abrasive grit. These shades are built for reliability and durability.
Industrial Strength Shades are not affected by sub zero cold or tropical heat or humidity. This is important for shades used in specialized work areas, on construction and mining equipment, ships and locations that are not accessible for normal maintenance and repairs. These shades are engineered for full vision under severe environmental conditions. These shades are also lead free.
Boats and Cranes frequently have windows that tilt inwards (like windshields) or outwards (like control towers.)
For relatively small windows, order shades with constant spring tension rollers and Pulley Locks. A cord will go across the glass when the shade is open.
For larger windows or for a less obstructed view with cords on the sides, order shades with constant spring tension rollers and Self Leveling Double Pulley Bottom Bars
For rectangular windows using a handle instead of cords, order with constant spring tension rollers and Notched Tracks.
Shades can be angle cut on one side, or on both sides (If the angles are at the same degree.). To mount from the top of the window, the top of the shade must be wider than the bottom. If windows are wider at the bottom the shade must be mounted on the bottom of the window frame.

Maximum dimensions for Industrial Strength Film Shades are 144" wide x 134" high. Industrial Strength Shade material comes 72" wide. The longest shade without a seam is 72" wide x 134" high. The widest shade without a visible seam is 144" wide x 70" high. The bottom of shades are finished with a weighted bar. Industrial Strength Shades are available in spring roller, clutch chain or motorized. Special cord locking systems available for control towers.
Our brackets are universal so shades can be mounted inside the frame, outside the frame or from the top down. Shades are shipped with all the necessary hardware. Chain lengths are 3/4's of the way down the shade. All chains come with child proof tensioners. Please specify if you need longer chains. Shades for air traffic control towers may require our FAA hardware and cords.
