Fluorescent Light Covers Stop Ultraviolet Light
The ordinary fluorescent bulb emits practically the same wavelengths of ultraviolet light and visible light as the sun. While the radiation from fluorescent bulbs is not as intense as the radiation from the sun, it is present whenever the bulbs are operating. These rays cause fade, cause materials to become brittle and trigger flares in people with photosensitive diseases such as lupus, dermatomyositis, porphyria, actinic reticuloid, xeroderma pigmentosum, etc.
