Maximum Transparency Custom Solar Shades provide the most undistorted outward visibility of any fabrics on the market. The secret lies in the fineness of the yarns, the uniform coating of the fiberglass and the regularity of the basket weave. Colors closest to white block 30% more heat than darker colors and allow for more natural light. Darker colors give sharper outward visibility and more glare reduction. Available in 5% and 10% openness in 9 colors.

North Solar Screen takes cords and child safety seriously. Our shades are available cordless (recommended where young children are present.) All chain shades have cord safety tensioners to reduce the hazards of cord strangulation or entanglement or they can be motorized.

  • Superior Strength and Dimensional Stability - yarns are 36% fiberglass and 64% PVC. They will not stretch, shrink or twist. Shades always hang flat and roll true.
  • Fade Resistant Yarns - color life exceeds all commercial requirements.
  • Anti Bacterial and Non Toxic Materials - Reject mold, bacteria and dry rot. Fiberglass is manufactured from all natural materials: quartz, sand, soda and lime. It is not affected by extreme temperatures.
  • Super fine yarns for maximum undistorted vision.
  • Meets Greenguard Certification for low VOC safe for schools
  • These shades are lead free.
  • They do not provide night time privacy
Charcoal/Charcoal in 10% Openness

Shades can be motorized using the Somfy Battery Operated Radio Motor with the Reloadable Battery Wand with 8 lithium batteries. New Solar Powered Battery Packs are also available in place of the lithium batteries. To calculate the price of a motorized shade, add the shade price to the battery motor price. For the Solar Powered Battery Pack add an additional $75.00. Then add the cost of either a 1 Channel Remote or a multi channel remote. Remotes are pre-programmed to correspond to each shade. Please tell us how you want the remotes set. Multi channel remotes can operate up to 100 shades. The last button opens and closes them simultaneously.

The minimum size of a custom shade is 12" x 12". The maximum size of a shade depends on the style:

  • Standard roller - 96" wide x 144" high (120" wide x 82 1/2" high railroaded)
  • Ultra Sleek Cassette - 84" wide x 84" high
  • Ultra Sleek Plus Cassette - 90" wide x 120" high
  • Motorized Ultra Sleek Plus Cassette - 92" wide x 120" high
  • Contact us for maximum dimensions for shades with battery motors.

Our brackets are universal so shades can be mounted inside the frame, outside the frame or from the top down. Shades are shipped with all the necessary hardware. Chain lengths are 3/4's of the way down the shade. All chains come with child proof tensioners. Please specify if you need longer chains.

Shades are shipped with all installation hardware.
